1st Annual Audubon Society Bio-Blitz

An invitation from Mandy Cluck to enjoy a day of birding and the Bio-Blitz this Saturday, May 5th! Take a look and come out and join the event!

I would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming 1st Annual Audubon Society Bio-Blitz on Saturday, May 5 starting here at the Golf Course Clubhouse at 9:30 a.m.  I just discovered this event sponsored by the US Golf Association and Audubon, with the goal to discover plants and animals living on and near golf courses throughout the world.  There is a time-limit, hence the short-notice – but there’s a double whammy here –May 5 is also Global Big Day, Birding‘s biggest day of the year.

We will be assisted by folks from the Upper Colorado River Watershed Group (a new local grassroots group) and the GLMRD staff.  If interested, please contact me – or if you know other “nature nuts” please forward this to them.  This is the kick-off for this event, but observations can be made all week independently.

As we prepare for summer, if you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, I’m planning to coordinate a “volunteer posse” to do projects such as trail re-building and maintenance, exotic weed control, and Citizen Science – a.k.a. wildlife watching!  Let me know if you’re interested in helping out.  Thank you!
