Spring Powder is a Snowmobilers Dream

Grand Lake is the Place for Powder this Spring

Did you know that March is historically the snowiest month in Colorado? Come make the most of it in gorgeous Grand Lake, where you can zoom through deep powder on snowmobiles, schuss through pine-scented forests on skis, spot wildlife on snowshoes, or just snuggle up by the fire with a good book. Originally called Spirit Lake by native Americans, whatever your soul needs in order to soar and restore this spring, you’ll find it right here.

Coming Soon: Grand Lake’s Snowmobile Adventure with Boondock Nation – Stay Tuned!

Grand Lake’s superior snowmobile landscape was recently recognized by Boondock Nation, a premier snowmobile enterprise that leads the industry in building custom machines, producing awe-inspiring adventure films and cultivating a community of snowmobile enthusiasts. Their team of passionate adventure-seekers and talented riders visited Grand Lake for several days of riding, filming and exploring to showcase our stunning scenery and unquenchable spirit for adventure and the outdoors. It was a true honor to host this group as they discovered Grand Lake’s vast trail system and unparalleled hospitality, and we invite you to come see what all the hype is about for yourself! Follow us @gograndlake as we share coverage of this amazing collaboration this fall!

Fuel Your Body and Sled:

The trail travels right past Wolfie’s, an outstanding, family-friendly diner perched on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park with a huge menu of hot-and-hearty meals, grab-and-go sandwiches, delectable desserts and “Muff Pot” meals–a fan favorite among the snowmobile crowd. This spot is adored by snowmobilers for its house-smoked meats, daily specials (think Fish Fry Friday and Italian Saturdays) and welcoming, fast-casual atmosphere.

The Sagebrush BBQ restaurant is conveniently open 363 days per year with ample parking for snowmobiles lined up while riders fuel up for a day of fun in the snow with mouth-watering platters of barbecue meats, burgers, burritos and more. Head to Ted’s Place across from the Town Trail on the highway to fuel up the sleds next (they have ethanol-free premium fuel on tap!) plus stock up on snacks, adult beverages and a Grand Lake-themed souvenir to commemorate your adventures.

Before you head out, don’t forget to snag a copy of the Grand Lake Snowmobile Trail System trail map, provided by the Grand Lake Trail Groomers, a non-profit organization that dedicates upwards of 1,000 volunteer hours to monitor and maintain 85 miles of groomed trails for safe riding for all levels from Grand Lake all the way to Gould, CO. In addition to trail names and mileage, this complimentary, custom trail map provides riding rules and regulations for safety as well as longitude and latitude points for navigation, and is an invaluable resource for the snowmobile community. You can support their tireless efforts by making a donation on their website or at numerous “tip jars” located in various storefronts around town. Make a donation at the Mountain Market on Saturday & Sundays and get a free cup of Steamboat coffee!

March is the last month to enjoy a ranger-led ski in Rocky Mountain National Park on a 2-hour journey to experience the park’s world-class wilderness, landscape and wildlife (weather permitting). This is a fantastic way to explore Rocky’s more remote west side, also known as the Kawuneeche Valley, which holds a wealth of historic landmarks and wildlife viewing opportunities. The next ski tour is Friday, March 15th. Reservations are required.
