Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park
Camping in RMNP offers unforgettable experiences, like dark skies full of glittering stars, private wildlife encounters and the sounds of nature coming to life at night. To reduce impact on the land and ensure a pleasant experience for all, camping is only permitted at the following designated campgrounds:

Location: West side/Grand Lake entrance (Note: This is the only campground located on the west side of the park)
Reservations: First-come, first-served only (Note: This is one of only two campgrounds in the park that do not require advanced reservations.)

Reservations: Highly recommended, available six months in advance
Fees: $26 per site, per night

Rocky Mountain National Park Backcountry Camping
A permit is required for an overnight stay in the backcountry areas of Rocky Mountain National Park. Backcountry campsite permits become available around March 1st each year. You may reserve these sites online or in-person only. Overnight backpack trips require advanced backcountry skills and equipment.
