A Timed Entry Permit is required in the peak months (mid-May to mid-October) to enter any access point to RMNP, including the East Inlet Trail (Adams Falls) and the East Shore Trail. Permits are NOT required before 9am or after 2pm. Trail Ridge Road is currently open for the 2023 season! Make sure to call the road status hotline (970 627-3471) before traveling as the status may change.

Hours

Rocky Mountain National Park is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, although certain roads and facilities may be closed seasonally. Located just a few miles from downtown Grand Lake, the Kawuneeche Visitor Center is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, year-round, closing only on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. However, regular hours are reduced in fall, winter and spring (call 970 627-3471 for exact hours during these seasons.) Trail Ridge Road is also open year-round from the western entrance (by the Kawuneeche Visitor Center) to the Colorado River Trailhead.

Park Passes

Automobiles – For a single, non-commercial vehicle with 16 or fewer passengers (purchase online here)

  • 1-day pass: $25 (valid for date of purchase)
  • 7-day pass: $35 (valid for seven consecutive days, including date of purchase)

Per Person – For walk-ins, bicycles and non-commercial groups

  • 1-day pass: $15 (valid for date of purchase)
  • 7-day pass: $20 (valid for seven consecutive days, including date of purchase)

Motorcycles – Covers one motorcycle

  • 1-day pass: $25 (valid for date of purchase)
  • 7-day pass: $30 (valid for seven consecutive days, including date of purchase)

Pets and Animal Policies

Dogs and pets are prohibited on ALL park trails, tundra, meadows and visitor centers. Pets are allowed on a leash on established roads and parking lots and in established campsites and picnic areas. Pets may not be left unattended in parked cars or tied to vehicles, trees or other objects.
