Rocky Mountain National Park, Via Colorado River Trail

Best Time of Year: May 01 - Oct 30

The trail to Lulu City is a  7.3-mile out-and-back trail in RMNP.  This moderately challenging route takes about 3 hours to complete and is popular for fishing, hiking, and horseback riding. Best visited from May to October, this trail offers a quieter alternative in Rocky Mountain National Park, and with all trails in RMNP, dogs are not allowed.

The trail follows the headwaters of the Colorado River, passing through beautiful mountain meadows and over several footbridges. Along the way, you’ll encounter remnants of mines and historic structures, including the remains of the Shipler Cabin, a relic of Lulu City's short-lived gold rush from 1879 to 1884.

With peaceful, wooded sections and occasional views of the Colorado River, this hike offers a scenic, history-filled adventure without the crowds.
