The Stillwater Pass Trail is an 18.1-mile out-and-back route located near Grand Lake, Colorado. This moderately challenging trail is accessed via the Idelglen Staging Area, which offers facilities such as restrooms and an information kiosk. To reach the trailhead, take Highway 34 to County Road 4, turn left, and drive approximately 4.5 miles.

The trail provides a scenic route along County Road 4, leading to the summit of Stillwater Pass. From mid-June through October, weather permitting, the pass is open all the way to Highway 125, allowing for extended exploration and stunning views of Apiatan Mountain, Little Gravel Mountain, Gravel Mountain, and Porphyry Peaks.

The trail area was impacted by the East Troublesome Fire in 2020, which caused significant damage to the trees and surrounding vegetation. While this has altered the landscape, it also provides unique opportunities to view the area's recovery.

The Stillwater Pass Trail is popular for camping and scenic driving, but also serves as a route for off-highway vehicles (OHVs) and snowmobiles. Hikers should be mindful of and share the trail with motorized users. Despite its popularity, visitors can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
