Buffalo Days in Grand Lake: A Weekend of Western Fun

Step back in time and celebrate Grand Lake's Western spirit during the 78th Annual Buffalo Days presented by Sagebrush BBQ & Grill! This beloved hometown tradition brings the community and visitors together for a weekend packed with music, games, good food, and authentic small-town fun. 

 

From August 15th-17th, enjoy an easygoing festival full of family activities and memorable summer moments without the overwhelming crowds.

Friday

Kick off the weekend with a Paint & Sip class by Rocky Mountain Folk School - Register early! Kick up your heels at Line Dancing classes hosted by the Grand Lake Center. In the evening attend a free outdoor screening of an 80s classic hosted by Lupine Village - Adventure, revenge, sword fights, giants, R.O.U.S', and yes there is some kissing! This event is free to attend, but you are welcome to donate if you’d like.

 


 

Saturday

Lace up your sneakers for a morning 5K run hosted by the Grand Lake Center, then refuel up at one of our local restaurants before our always competitive Cornhole Tournament in Town Park - Registration is NOW OPEN! Watch 32 teams battle it out, while enjoying the free carnival games presented by the Town of Grand Lake. But the fun doesn't end there - head down to Gene Stover Lakefront Park for the evening festivities including authentic buffalo BBQ from our presenting sponsor Sagebrush BBQ & Grill, & live music from Colorado's own 6 Million Dollar Band! Keep the party going at the Official After-Party hosted by Charlie's Sports Bar & Grill.

 


 

Sunday

The final day of Buffalo Days begins in Town Park with Cowboy Church presented by Winding River Resort. Then get your seat for the Town of Grand Lake's Cowpoke Parade down Grand Avenue! Parade Application

Ready to cool off? Grand Lake Fire's Water Zone at Gene Stover Lakefront Park immediately follows the parade. 

 

Tips to Make the Most of Your Weekend

This frontier-inspired celebration is one of Grand Lake’s most popular annual events, so book your lodging early, whether you’re reserving a camping spot or settling into a charming cabin. Some events, like the Friday classes and cornhole tournament, require advance registration. The Buffalo Days schedule will keep you plenty busy, but we encourage you to take some time to explore more of our charming town. Scenic hikes, paddleboard outings against a mountain backdrop, shopping along the boardwalk, and even a mini golf course await.
