Signature Events in Grand Lake, CO

A memorable experience awaits at Grand Lake throughout the year. Time your visit to coincide with one of our seasonal festivals or signature events — from dazzling fireworks displays to fun-filled celebrations — and experience the charm of our mountain town alongside the local community.

Winter

Kick off the festive season in late November with the downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony, where Santa always makes an appearance. Bundle up for fireworks on New Year’s Eve, which light up the snow-capped mountains in a magical scene. Another standout is the Winter Carnival, a day of fun for the whole family that features events such as bed sled races, a snowman contest, and snowy mini golf.

Spring & Summer

In May, we honor servicemembers and veterans during a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, often highlighted by a flyover. Summer fun peaks on the Fourth of July, when fireworks shimmer across Colorado’s largest natural lake and the town comes alive with music and food well before nightfall. And Buffalo Days, a celebration of Grand Lake’s Western heritage, takes over the city for three days in mid-August.

Fall

In Colorado, autumn means it’s leaf-peeping season, when the forests are awash in yellow, gold, and orange. October also brings the Ghosts & Gourds Gathering in Town Park, a family-friendly Halloween celebration with a free pumpkin patch, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and a costume contest. Kids can trick-or-treat along the boardwalk, and local shops join the fun with decorated storefronts competing for best dressed.

Join us year-round to experience the spirit of this scenic lakeside destination, where community traditions, festive gatherings, and holiday cheer await. Find more information on these events just below.
