2025 Tree Lighting Schedule

Holiday Events & Festivities

Each year, we kick off the season of joy with a Tree Lighting Ceremony (November 28) in the heart of town. Santa and his reindeer will make an appearance as our community gathers to sing Christmas carols and warm up with hot cocoa and cookies.

Tour the holiday decorations at the Kauffman House Museum and say (another) hello to Santa at the nearby Moffat Road Railroad Museum (dates and additional information will be available soon).

Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s annual “Home for the Holidays” shows (December 13 and 14) bring festive cheer with an array of holiday classics and Broadway hits, all performed by talented RMRT alumni.

If you’re up for a short drive, the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade and fireworks at Winter Park is a unique winter event.

Seasonal Shopping

Leave the big-box stores behind and stroll our historic boardwalk to uncover locally-owned galleries, jewelry stores, clothing boutiques, and more. Check off everyone on your gift list with hand-poured, soy candles from Grand Lake Candle Co., mountain-themed accessories from Altitude Jewelry, cozy fabrics and handmade creations from Cabin Quilts & Stitches, home decor for that birding-obsessed uncle at Wild About Birds, and whimsical gifts from Quacker Gift Shop, known for its playful variety of ducks, delicious homemade fudge, and other unique treats.

Get your shopping done early at the Olde Fashioned Holiday Craft Bazaar (November 28 and 29, at the Historic Grand Lake Community House in Town Park). You can also create handmade presents or your own souvenirs by joining a class, like Beaded Snowflakes or Glass Fusing: Christmas Ornaments, at Rocky Mountain Folk School

Savor classic mountain dining at the Historic Rapids Lodge & Restaurant, elevated pub fare at Wild Bear Tavern, and belly-warming barbecue at Sagebrush BBQ & Grill.
